KILLINGLY, CT — Connecticut State Police have confirmed that remains discovered in Killingly on April 9 are human.
The confirmation follows an initial report of possible human remains found on Woodward Street at approximately 4:24 p.m.
Troopers from Troop D – Danielson responded to the scene along with detectives from the Eastern District Major Crime Squad. Authorities say the case remains in the early stages and the investigation is active.
“Given the circumstances as they are presently known, police say identification will take time to establish,” State Police reported. No further details on the condition or origin of the remains have been released at this time.
Officials emphasized that there is currently no known threat to the public.
The remains were discovered in an area off Woodward Street, prompting a swift response and securing of the site by law enforcement. Investigators have not confirmed whether foul play is suspected.
“This remains an active investigation,” police stated. The public is urged to avoid speculation and allow investigators to complete the identification process and forensic examination.
